Annotating across elements
CAUTION: A known bug in the ByteSize Reader can cause a crash
when Highlights and Notes are created that include more than
one element.
What is an element? An element is a single paragraph, a single
heading or a single item in a list and is defined
by a single green
box in PageView. When a Highlight or Note includes text in more
than one green box, the ByteSize Reader may crash.
WORK-AROUND: When you want to Highlight multiple
consecutive elements, Highlight each element separately. Attach
Notes to single elements.

Citations Manager
CAUTION: Upon first use of the "Copy-and-paste" function
in a ByteSized document, the Citations Manager adds extra text to
the citation.
WORK-AROUND: Open "Citations" under EDIT
on the menu bar. Set up the fields as you want them. Use Preview
to
verify
your changes, then click SAVE. After saving your new information,
the Citations Manager will paste the citation as you have it
set up.

Copying text with citation
CAUTION: Sometimes the “Copy text with citation” function
places extra spaces in citations that do not belong.
WORK-AROUND: Check all citations and manually back out unnecessary
spaces. To eliminate future citation errors in the document you
have open in the ByteSize Reader, open “Citations” under
EDIT and click SAVE.

Creating Quester Summary
CAUTION: When no annotations are visible in Quester (meaning
the structure tree is not expanded), then no annotations
will be included in the summary.
WORK-AROUND: Before building a Quester Summary, expand the structure
tree in Quester until your annotations are visible.

Deleting annotations
CAUTION: Deleting the last annotation in a section retains unwanted
graphic elements in Quester, namely a minus sign and a vertical
line.
WORK-AROUND: This bug is not harmful to the stability of the
ByteSize Reader. You can ignore the bug or click "Refresh
Quester" under VIEW on the ByteSize Reader menu bar.

WORK-AROUND: On the ByteSize Reader toolbar, click the
Quester icon twice to bring the hidden Quester pane back into
view.

Hiding/viewing ReaderLens pane
CAUTION: Sometimes ReaderLens is hard to return to view after
it has been hidden.
WORK-AROUND: On the ByteSize Reader toolbar, click the ReaderLens
icon twice to bring the hidden ReaderLens pane back into view. Or,
click and drag the edge of the ReaderLens to the left
to reveal the pane.

Highlights displayed in Quester
CAUTION: When a single Highlight includes
multiple elements (headings, paragraphs, items in a list), the elements
will run together when they are displayed in Quester.
WORK-AROUND: Avoid creating highlights that include multiple elements.
Instead, create a separate Highlight for each element.

Installing the ByteSize Reader on a partitioned hard drive
CAUTION: When installing the ByteSize Reader, the installation
process defaults to the C: drive on your computer. The C: drive
is where MS-Windows files are installed on most PCs. If you have
a partitioned hard drive, the ByteSize Reader needs to be installed
on the same
drive where MS-Windows is installed; usually the C: drive.

Quester’s “Max entry height” setting
CAUTION: Setting Quester’s “Max entry height” above
16 creates a display error when expanding and closing elements in
the Quester structure tree.
WORK-AROUND: Set Quester’s “Max entry height” (under
EDIT then Preferences) to a number no higher than 15.

Scaling graphic elements in ReaderLens
CAUTION: Adjusting the "Scale graphic elements" setting
while two or more documents are open will create an error that requires
a force quit.
WORK-AROUND: Close extra documents so that either one or no documents
are open before adjusting the “Scale graphic elements” setting
through Preferences.
